FOR MY BLOG I AM CHOOSING TO WRITE ABOUT THE CAT IN THE HAT. IN THE BOOK I THINK THAT THE CAT IS DOMINATED BY ID. I DONT THINK THAT THE CAT MEANT FOR THINGS TO TURN BAD, I THINK HE JUST WANTED TO LET THE KIDS HAVE FUN BECAUSE THEY WERENT HAVING A GOOD DAY. I SAY THAT THE CHARACTER OF THE CAT IS ID BECAUSE THE STORY STARTED OFF AS THE CAT COMING IN AND THE FISH WHO WAS THE ONLY ONE TRYING TO FOLLOW THE RULES TOLD THE CAT THAT HE HAD TO LEAVE, SO THEN THE CAT INSISTED THAT HE HAD A GAME TO PLAY. IT WAS THE ID THEN BECAUSE WHEN THE FISH TOLD THAT CAT TO LEAVE HE SHOULD OF LEFT BUT INSTEAD HE WANTED TO SHOW THEM THE GAME AND THEN THEY PLAYED THE GAME. WHEN THE CAT STARTED TO BALANCE EVERTHING AND THEN HE DROPPED EVERYTHING THAT HE HAD HE SHOULD OF PICKED EVERYTHING UP AND LEFT BECAUSE HE SHOULD OF SEEN THAT HE WAS CAUSING A PROBLEM BUT HE DIDNT HE STAYED. AFTER THE CAT STAYED THE ID GOT TO HIM AGAIN AND HE INSISTED THAT THEY PLAY A GAME AND HE BROUGHT A BOX AND OPENED IT AND THING ONE AND THING TWO CAME OUT OF THE BOX. IT WAS BAD WHEN THE CAT BROUGHT OUT THING ONE AND THING TWO BECAUSE ALL THEY WERENT BAD ALL THEY WANTED TO DO WAS HAVE FUN,IF THEY KNEW HOW THE CAT COULD DESTROY A HOUSE THEN THE KIDS SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT WHEN THE CAT BROUGHT OUT THING ONE AND THING TWO THAT THINGS WOULD GET WORSE AND IN THE BOOK IT DID. THE FISH TRYED TO STOP EVERTHING THAT WAS GOING ON BUT NOBODY LISTENED TO THE FISH HE SEEMED TO BE THE ONLY ONE THAT WAS RESPONSIBLE BUT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT HE COULD DO. WHEN EVER THE FISH INSIST THAT THE CAT LEAVE THE CAT ALWAYS THOUGHT OF ANOTHER IDEA. BY THE END OF THE STORY WHEN THE MOTHER WAS SPOTTED AND COMING IN THE HOUSE THE HOUSE WAS A TOTAL WRECK, THE KIDS DIDNT KNOW HOW TO CLEAN THE HOUSE UP BEFORE THE MOM GOT IN, THEY TOLD THE CAT THAT HE HAD TO LEAVE AND THEN HE GOT SAD AND SEEMED LIKE HE BECAME SUPEREGO AT THE END. THEY GOT THING 1 AND 2 OUT AND THEN THE CAT BROUGHT IN THIS BIG CLEAN MACHINE AND EVERYTHING WAS BACK AT PEACE. SO THE CAT STARTED OFF KINDA AS A BAD PERSON AND THEN THINGS ENDED GOOD.

THE THINGS THAT MADE THE PEOPLE IN IRAN ENJOY LIFE THE MOST WAS WHEN SOMETHING HAPPENED IT WAS GOOD TO KNOW THAT SOMEONE THAT THE PERSON WAS VERY CLOSE TO WAS STILL ALIVE THAT WAS SOMETHING THAT MADE THEM ENJOY LIFE. ANOTHER THING THAT MADE THEM ENJOY LIFE WAS LIKE WHEN THEY WERE GOING AGAINST THE RULES AND THEY THREW PARTIES. THEY THREW PARTIES ON SPECIAL DAYS AND THEY THREW A PARTY ONCE WHEN A BABY WAS BORN. I THINK FROM MY OPINION IT WOULD BE KIND OF HARD TO HAVE FUN BECAUSE EVERYTIME YOU LOOK UP YOU WERE BEING HARRASSED BY THE POLICE. FOR INSTANCE WHEN THEY HAD LEFT THE PARTY AND THE POLICE STOPPED THEM AND HE SMELLED LIQUOR ON HIS BREATH AND KNEW IT WAS FORBIDDEN SO HE WAS GONNA DO SOMETHING BAD TO MARJI'S FATHER. I DONT SEE HOW THEY MADE IT HAVING FUN. THE THINGS THAT MADE ME LAUGH THROUGHOUT THE STORY WAS AT THE END WHEN EVERYONE WAS KIND OF USE TO THE WAR AND THE KIDS WERE STARTING TO TRY TO BE HIP. ANOTHER THING THAT MADE ME LAUGH WAS WHEN MARJI HIT HER TEACHER I THINK HER TEACHER DESERVED IT FOR TRYING TO TAKE HER JEWELRY. WHEN THE KIDS WERE TRYING TO BE HIP THEY BOUGHT CERTAIN KINDS OF CLOTHES ALTHOUGH THEY KNEW THEY WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO WEAR THEM. THE THING THAT MARJI DID WAS WHEN HER PARENTS WENT OUT OF TOWN SHE HAD THEM BRING HER BACK ALL THE THINGS THAT WERE HIP. MARJI'S PARENTS BROUGHT HER BACK A JACKET,BUTTON, SHOES, AND A POSTER AND THAT IS HOW SHE STAYED HIP AND SHE ALSO WORE JEWELRY. WHEN MARJI STARTED TO SMOKE CIAGARETTES SHE DIDNT SAY THAT SHE WAS DOING IT TO BE HIP BUT I THINK IT WAS A FORM OF IT BECAUSE SHE SAID THAT SHE WAS GROWN. IF I WAS A CHILD LIVING IN THAT ENVIRONMENT I DONT THINK THAT I COULD HAVE LASTED AND TRYED TO BE HIP AT ALL BECAUSE YOU CANT DO ANYTHING WITHOUT PEOPLE ON YOUR BACK AND THREATNING TO ARREST YOU. I THINK I WOULD OF PROBABALY JUST STAYED IN THE HOUSE AND IF I WAS MARJI'S FRIEND WHEN SHE GAVE AWAY HER STUFF I WOULD OF EXCEPTED THAT AND THAT WOULD OF PROBABLY BEEN THE ONLY HIP THING I HAD. MARJI'S FAMILY TO ME SEEMS TO BE CALM BUT THEY JUST WANT TO BE SAFE. THEY SEEM TO ONLY WANT THE BEST FOR THEIR DAUGHTER, THEY STILL HAVE HER IN SCHOOL ITS ONLY CERTAIN THINGS THAT SHE CAN GET AWAY WITH LIKE WHEN SHE IS DISRESPECTFUL THEY DO DISIPLINE HER. LIKE THEY LET HER GO SHOPPING BY HERSELF AND STUFF THEY WANT HER TO TRY AND HAVE A HAPPY NORMAL LIFE AND THAT IS KIND OF THE REASON WHY THEY SENT HER AWAY. I THINK THAT THE BOOK WAS ORGANIZED VERY GOOD. WHEN YOU FIRST START READING THE BOOK IT IS VERY STRAIGHT FORWARD LIKE SHE INTRODUCES HERSELF AND THEN SHE STARTS TALKING ABOUT THE PROBLEMS THAT HER COUNTRY IS HAVING, AFTER SHE INTRODUCED HERSELF LIKE SHE RIGHT AWAY STARTED TALKING ABOUT THE VEIL AND HOW THEY HAD TO WHERE THEM.THE BOOK IS ORGANIZED AND STRAIGHT FORWARD. THE DRAWINGS IN THE BOOK ARE VERY DETAILED TO ME. WHATEVER MARJI HAS TO SAY OR A STORY SHE IS TELLING THROUGHOUT THE BOOK MATCHES THE DRAWING IN TEXT. WITH THE DRAWING IN THE STORY IT GIVES YOU A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT THE STORY IS ABOUT AND THE THINGS THAT THE PEOPLE IN THE STORY GO THROUGH. THE PEOPLE AFTER A WHILE DID NOT HAVE CONTROL OF WHAT WAS GOING ON. ALL THE FREEDOM THE PEOPLE HAD EVENTUALLY WAS TAKEN FROM THEM. THE PEOPLE IN THE COUNTRY JUST COULD NOT WIN EVERYTHING WAS STARTING TO BE FORBIDDEN SO WHEN PEOPLE WANTED TO DO SOMETHING AND IF THEY COULD IT HAD TO BE DONE SECRETLY..FOR INSTANCE WHEN LIKE THE ALCOHOL AND STUFF WAS NOT ALLOWED ANYMORE THEY THREW A PARTY AND WENT AGAINST THE RULES. AFTER THE REVOULTION I THINK EVERYBODY STARTED TO LEAVE SO THAT THEY COULD REALLY GET A SENSE OF FREEDOM AND THEY DONT WANT TO HAVE TO GO BACK TO THAT LIFE EVER SO THEY LEFT WHY THEY COULD. I THINK MARJI'S PARENTS SENT HER AWAY SO SHE WOULD NOT HAVE TO SUFFER ANYMORE OF THE PROBLEMS THAT WERE IN IRAN. I THINK THEY STAYED BECAUSE THEY FIGURED THEY COULD FIX THINGS AND COULD STILL SAVE STUFF.

MY FEED CONTAINS A LOT OF THINGS SUCH AS: FOOD, CLOTHES, TECHNOLOGY, QUOTES,CELEBRITIES. I CHOSE THESE THINGS BECAUSE IT'S MOST OF THE STUFF THAT I LOVE AND CANT LIVE WITHOUT. WHEN I THINK OF AMERICA AND IT COMES TO THESE KINDS, WE LIKE A LOT OF MATERIAL THINGS AND PUT MATERIAL THINGS BEFORE THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS IN LIFE. OUR LIVES ARE SURROUNDED BY THESE KINDS OF THINGS AND IT SEEMS LIKE THAT PRETTY MUCH WHAT WE CARE ABOUT MATERIAL THINGS AND ITS KIND OF THE REASON WHY AMERICA HAS A BAD REP. HOW DOES MEDIA, CONSUMERISM, RELIANCE ON TECHNOLOGY AFFECT ME? IT AFFECTS ME A LOT BECAUSE JUST LIKE OTHER PEOPLE WITHOUT THESE THINGS I PROBABLY COULDNT SURVIVE LIKE I LITERALLY WOULDNT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MYSELF. ITS LIKE WHEN YOU LOSE YOUR CELL PHONE LIKE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU LOST EVERYTHING YOU HAD OR WHEN THE INTERENT OR CABLE IS CUT OFF YOU SIT THERE BORED AND DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR SELF. WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IT THERE ARE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS IN LIFE THAN THOSE THINGS. WHAT DOES THIS SAY ABOUT ME? IT SAYS THAT I COULD PERSONALLY TRY TO LIVE BETTER AND NOT FOCUS SO MUCH ON MATERIAL THINGS. ITS LIKE EVERYWHERE I HAVE TO HAVE A CELL PHONE AND CAMERA OR IPOD. IN THE WORLD OF THE STORY NO PEOPLE ARE NOT ANYTHING WITHOUT THE FEED. THEY CLEARLY DONT KNOW HOW TO LIVE WITHOUT IT. THE FEED DOES EVERYTHING FOR THEM SO THEY DONT KNOW HOW TO LIVE WITHOUT IT, SURVIVE WITHOUT IT. WITHOUT THE FEED THEY ARE DUMB. TEXTING..The thing a lot of people in the world love to do..It's a way of commnicating and entertainment but its a big distraction..I cant even stay away from it in school when I should be learning.

Some people just love computers..Me and Apree couldn't even do our work for playing with the effects and seeing what crazy things the computer can do. Another thing people do for entertainment..watch T.V.Its a good thing to have t.v's because you learn from it for instance watching the news..but it could be bad..movies of things that are untrue sometimes.

This is how the world communicates most of the time through some type of PHONE..It could even be a cell phone. If you dont have a phone or computer you dont really have a way of communicating unless you have a pen,paper,and address..lol

GAMES are things that people buy just to have some kind of entertainment..{we were playing the wii game} game systems can become very addicting to some people especially children.

One thing the world uses the most to survive.The COMPUTER helps create a lot of things. It also can take over peoples lives and become addicting. This is the "feed" we use now days.. You see computers everywhere you pretty much go..

People need MUSIC (ipods)to function..Its just apart of everyday life..It helps emotions for cetain feelings.

One thing most people in the world can't live without..a CAMERA, it helps save memories of life,you can even record instead of taking pictures.

...Reflection...

The story that my images tell is that technology is used a lot in the world today and in a lot of different ways. My theme is Technology Takes Over The Mind. I think it is true that technology takes over the mind because there is not one person in the world that cant live without it. Computers you use them to communicate, create things for the world. Calculators you dont even really have to learn math anymore it does it for you. Music you can take it anywhere you go. Cell phones are like mandatory now in life its like if you dont have one then your lame. I chose these pictures because some of them have me in them and shows how I love technology and im not the only person in the world affected by it. By the way a camera is part of technolgy, there was even a camera in sight showing me use technology it just something that is needed in the world. My feelings about technology is that we could definatley use less of it because we are not really able to do things on our own we have technology to do it for us.Even though we have technology to do things for us we should learn to do these things on our own just in case because technology brakes down its not always possible that it's gonna be there....

2nd blog for feed

Violet and Titus' conversation on democracy and republic and how he think she thinks he dumb..DUMBOCRACY

The feed does affect Titus' personality and intelligence in a bad way. When I was reading the book and Titus and Violet were having a conversation about the democracy and republic, Titus didn't really know what he was talking about until Violet told him. After that conversation he started to feel dumb. When Violet was telling him that she got the feed when she was seven Titus said "holy shit" I can kind of tell from reading that, that Titus couldn't imagine life without the feed and he wouldn't know how to act without the feed because he is not able to think on his own.
Violet's project is that she is going to mess with her feed because she know it is messed up from when the guy touched them. Violet decides that she is going to look at stuff and not purchase it. When the feed see's what kind of stuff Violet likes that is how they market her but they cant market her because she keeps playing around with the feed. What does this tell me about Violet? It tells me that she has more sense than other people to know that they are marketing her. She does think for herself which is a good thing because the other kids dont. Titus isnt really sure whats going on with the project but when they got to the mall he finally started to catch on.

Titus' reponse to them buying him a upcar was he was happy and when they got to the car place he didn't know which one to choose. The reason that they bought him a upcar i think is stupid.They bought him a upcar basically because they wanted to release stress from when the man hacked all of the feeds and they wanted him to forget about it and not think about so thats the reason he got it. But a situation like this does not necessarily happen in real like and people dont really forget things.Other than that Titus was happy and especially being with violet that day.

When Violet's father uses the word "dude" it does stick out compared to "unit". I think the author used this word to show how people back in the day used to talk compared to the way they live in the future. I think this book also shows that this is how the future might be, Its kind of the same when we look at our parents and they say something old and we have a new term for it all the time. It just kind of reflects how life is today.

What kind of person is Titus?
Titus is a very calm person. He seems to keep to himself a lot and he is not like the rest of his friends. Even though he has the feed he still seems to come off as normal in a lot of parts of the book especially when he is with Violet. Titus to me seems like he doesn't want to be like everybody else that is why he acts so different.72

How does he compare to his friends?
When it comes to attitude Titus is very different from his friends. He seems to try to be the one in the corner all the time. Titus's friends seem to be wild and out-going and he chooses not to act that way he would rather be quiet and sit back and watch. The feed seems to effect his friends more but he doesn't seem to let it effect him as much.71

What kind of person is Violet?
Violet is what I would consider "normal". I would consider her normal because she knows how to do things on her own besides using the feed. She didn't get the feed as soon as other kids did because her parents couldn't afford it so she learned how to do things on her own. Violet is also the kind of person who wants to be like others but she doesn't try to fit in.74

Why does Violet want to be "normal"? What is normal?
I think Violet wants to be normal because she is to much different from the others. Its kind of like she knows how to think on her own. I also think that she feels like an out cast. No one is like her and no one acts like her. Everybody is into the feed and she's not, so I think she tries to get into it so she can be like everyone else. In this case normal is not thinking for yourself the computer does it for you. In the book the chat inside the head so some dont talk. They travel to a moon to have fun like we go to parties and movies for fun. They cant function without their feed. The feed is what makes them "normal".

Connecting this my life...
Like Titus and Violet I try to stand out from the rest of the crowd. Its okay to fit in and be like others sometimes but I have my limits. I like to be different because I dont want to be known as being the same like others i think people should have a "uniqueness" about them. At the same time I know how to be normal and not come off as wierd.
